To My Daughter, Who Thinks She’s Not Good Enough

Dear Sweetheart,

There will be days when you look around and think you’re not enough. Maybe a test didn’t go the way you hoped, or your friends all seemed to get something you didn’t. Maybe you didn’t feel seen, or heard, or even liked. On those days, I hope you come back to this letter.

You are enough. Not because of how well you perform, how perfectly you behave, or how many people like your photos. You are enough because you are uniquely you—thoughtful, curious, kind, and growing.

You don’t need to be the loudest, the prettiest, the fastest, or the smartest in the room. But if you’re kind, if you try, if you show up again and again even when it’s hard—that’s real strength. And that’s what I see in you every day.

We live in a world that constantly tells kids to be “more.” More impressive. More put-together. More “perfect.” But I want you to know something important: You don’t need to earn your value. You already have it. Simply by being here. Simply by being you.

So if you ever doubt yourself, I want you to imagine me sitting next to you, holding your hand, reminding you: You are seen. You are loved. And you are more than enough.

Love always,
Dad
